Beach

Throughout the week people kept telling us how lucky we are to go to the beach on the weekend. “The beach” is an area with some hotels and “beach houses” that the more fortunate Haitians keep as weekend getaways.

We’ve been here since yesterday and have yet to see anyone else in the water or the shore. An ocean for ourselves. Water is calm, warm and rather perfect. The area is amazing, with grass and trees and lots of shade (one of the amazing things about the rest of Haiti is the lack of shade in a place where it’s most needed). Even the fact that there is no running water (but we should have a shower back home) and that electricity is on-off doesn’t take away from the peace.

And… as I wrote the word peace, the friendly rooster made sure I didn’t forget to mention him. Apparently, the “rooster calling out in the morning” doesn’t apply in Haiti. They are noisy all day long.

Fully charged and ready for another week. I will try to send out these weekly posts when I get home.
Writing this blog

Note: there wasn't internet when I got home. A day later posting from the office.

  2. Did you bring diving equipment?

    Hehehe.

Also: Rooster + Mangal = Lunch + Sleep.

I know you're vegetarian, but still - think about it. Mangal + Vegetarian = Many new friends.

In other news, 7.0 (6.4) beta was released yesterday, and GA will be out on Thursday once the complete-coverage fully-automated QA regression cycle is complete. Design of 7.1 has already been finished, and the code freeze is scheduled for Sep 28th since it turns out George finished the new UI over Rosh Hashana. Also, we're not renewing the QC licence for this year, since we only have 8 open bugs left and it's easier to keep track of them with a pen and paper.

Have a good new year!! :)

  3. Hi Anat! I just checked my email account and saw your email with the link to this blog. Read all the posts with great interest and am very impressed with everything you are experiencing. The locals seem very friendly and positive, and all those praying prior and post meetings are, though not that resourceful, quite endearing :) The beach is spectacular! I think I'd be tempted to stare at it all w/end long. You're looking wonderful. Please don't write less - it's all fascinating stuff and you write so well. Hope you have a shana tova and take care. Looking forward to reading the next post. Love, Hadas
